Theresa Phondo has achieved a remarkable feat as the most streamed Malawian female gospel artist on Spotify, thanks to her hit song ‘Blessings’, which has garnered over one million streams on the platform.
Presently, Phondo, formerly a member of Zathu Band, boasts 94,653 monthly listeners on Spotify. Her 2022 sensation ‘Blessings’, featuring international artists Noël Mio and Sal LY, continues to capture hearts both locally and globally. Notably, as of Thursday, February 29, 2024, ‘Blessings’ had amassed 1,373,064 streams on Spotify, marking Phondo as the first Malawian female musician to reach such heights.
In an interview, Phondo credited the divine intervention and the exceptional talents of Noël Mio and Sal LY for the success of ‘Blessings’. She expressed gratitude for the song’s viral impact, attributing it to the collaboration with producer TBabz and the Nigerian artists. Phondo emphasized God’s role in orchestrating the song’s reach and acknowledged the support of international friends and celebrities in promoting it across various platforms.
Addressing a recent incident where her songs were temporarily unavailable on Spotify due to late payment of the annual subscription fee, Phondo clarified that the issue was resolved promptly after settling the fee.
